Helios Solar Powered Aircraft

Compilation of test flights. Pathfinder Solar Plane preceeded Centurion. Pathfinder turned into Pathfinder+ by removing the original center panel and replacing it with a panel that was about 48 feet in length. Centurion turned into Helios Prototype, which turned into Helios and Helios with a fuel cell. The difference between Centurion and Helios prototype was removing the center panel and adding 2 new center panels. Helios flew with 5 pods and had a full solar array. The fuel cell version was made by removing the center pod and replacing it with the fuel cell pod. That is the one at the end of the video.

Alien Jump Jet the coolest new aircraft

This is the new alien jump jet from http://www.snelflight.co.uk It is a 4 channel micro electric indoor VTOL It has 3 micro gyros that keep it as steady as a rock in the air, ground effect isn't a problem so you can hover inches off the ground. It's auto stabilization is amazing push on it and it pushes back to stabilize itself, it's very cool. When you order it you can select to have either a mode 1 or mode 2 transmitter. Mode 1 has throttle on the right stick, mode 2 has throttle on the left stick. It comes with the aircraft, replacment blades, a transmitter and a wall socket charger with an adapter for most major countries. At the moment it is only available through snelflight. They helped develop the aircraft and their customer support is amazing they are the best place to get one. They ship very quickly, usually in less then a week. But delivery times will vary depending on the postal service in your country. It is controlled via IR, but an RF upgrade will be coming out later this year, The IR signal is very powerful and it works well in the home, but if you want to fly it out doors or in large open areas you will want to upgrade it to RF. This is the main alien air forum wear you can ask questions and get answers about the alien jump jet and other alien air products coming soon. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=813134 This aircraft is a blast to fly and it looks really cool, I think it represents a new wave in electric consumer rc aircraft.

Landing on an Aircraft Carrier

In this clip, taken from the film Speed and Angels, watch as Jay and Meagan land an F-14 Tomcat on an aircraft carrier. Thanks to unprecedented access granted by the Navy, Director Peyton Wilson captured and created the most intimate film ever made on fighter pilots. Inspired by the passion of two young Navy officers she encountered, Peyton followed Jay and Meagan as they chased their childhood dream of becoming naval aviators flying the F-14 Tomcat. Their two and a half year journey takes them through dogfights in the Nevada desert, night landings on aircraft carriers off the Atlantic coast, and eventually to the biggest challenge young officers face: wartime deployment to Iraq. www.speedandangels.com

Forgotten Aircraft - Lockheed Constitution

The Lockheed R6V Constitution was a large, propeller-driven, double-decker transport aircraft developed in the 1940s by Lockheed as a long-range, high capacity transport and airliner for the U.S. Navy and Pan American Airways. (The Constitutions were identified as R6O until 1950.) Only two of the planes were ever built, both prototypes. Although these two planes went into service with the Navy, the Constitution design ultimately proved underpowered and too large for practical airline use at the time. The Constitution remains the largest fixed-wing aircraft type ever operated by the U.S. Navy. The Lockheed Constitution began life in 1942 as a joint study by the U.S. Navy, PanAm, and Lockheed. The design requirements, initially designated Lockheed Model 89, called for a large transport aircraft to improve upon the Navy's fleet of flying boats. PanAm was involved in the study because such an aircraft had potential use as a commercial airliner. This transport would carry 17,500 pounds of cargo 5,000 miles at a cruising altitude of 25,000 feet and a speed greater than 250 mph. The aircraft would be fully pressurized and large enough so that most major components could be accessed and possibly repaired in flight. For instance, tunnels led through the thick wings to all four engines.) The aircraft was designed by a team of engineers led by Willis Hawkins and W.A. Pulver of Lockheed and Commander E. L. Simpson, Jr. of the Navy. The name Constitution was given to the project by Lockheed president Robert E. Gross. The Constitution design had a "double bubble" fuselage, the cross section of which was a "figure eight". This unorthodox design utilized the structural advantages of a cylinder for cabin pressurization, without the wasted space that would result from a single large cylinder of the same volume. The original contract from the Bureau of Aeronautics called for 50 Constitutions for a total price tag of $111,250,000. However, on VJ Day, the contract was scaled back to $27,000,000 for only two aircraft. The first Constitution, BuNo 85163, was built in the summer of 1946 at the Lockheed plant in Burbank, California. Because of the aircraft's large size—the tail towered 50 feet—Lockheed had to build a special hangar for final assembly. The $1,250,000 hangar, Lockheed-California's Building 309, measured 408 feet long, 302 feet wide, and the equivalent of six stories tall. The footprint of the hangar covered four acres. The R6O made its first flight on November 9, 1946. Joe Towle and Tony LeVier flew the plane on a leisurely course to Muroc Air Force Base. Once there, the plane underwent a carefully documented test program. At this time, electronic data recording technology was not well developed, so instrument readings were recorded by a movie camera pointed at the instrument panel. The first Constitution made a nonstop flight from Moffett Field to NAS Patuxent River on July 25, 1948. The pilot for the flight was Commander William Collins (USN) and the copilot was Roy Wimmer, Lockheed engineering test pilot. Four days later, the ship was formally christened by Mrs. John L. Sullivan, wife of the Secretary of the Navy, at Washington National Airport. The R6O tested JATO takeoffs with six rockets mounted on the rear of the fuselage. At full gross weight, the rockets shortened the takeoff run by 24%. Ship No. 1 was delivered to Navy Transport Squadron VR-44, based at NAS Alameda, on February 2, 1949. Both it and its sister ship, Ship No. 2 (which followed six months later), flew the route between California and Hawaii. The second Constitution, BuNo 85164, first flew on June 9, 1948. This aircraft, like its predecessor, had a double-deck configuration. The second aircraft, however, had an upper deck fully furnished as a luxury passenger transport, with accommodations for 92 passengers and 12 crew. The second Constitution, like its predecessor, also made a nonstop transcontinental flight. On February 3, 1949, the aircraft flew its 16 crew and 74 members of the press from Moffett Field to Washington National Airport. At the time, this was the largest number of people flown across the United States in a single flight. In the early 1950s, Ship No. 2 made a Navy recruiting tour of 19 cities. The side of the fuselage proudly advertised "YOUR NAVY—AIR AND SEA." Some 546,000 toured the plane's interior. KASHTAN-M anti-aircraft anti-missile system

Russian ANTY-TOMAHAWK system with artificial intellect (RenTV,Voennaya Tayna) Narrator A.Prokopenko- military journalist, Commentator A.Zhukov - deputy comstructor World's only system which has within one turret poweful artillery weapons, multiourpose missiles, radio-locating and optical radar. Main constructor A.G.Shipunov. fighting productivity and striking potential of missile-guns system is 2-4 times more effective then only with guns one. Kashtam-M has better characteristics of both weapons than any analogies The extremely high striking effect is achieved by: 1)module principle of construction - 1 command module (with own 3-coordinate target detection station "Pozitiv-EM1.2") and up to 6 fighting modules depending on ship class or land proteted area. 2)combination on 1 turret missile - gum weapon and integrated radar weapon controlling system allows to increase the precision of fighting by expeling mistakes caused by of ship hull deformations when weapons and weapon controlling system are disposed in different parts of ship, but this also provides guaranteed elimination of cruising and other missiles by shoting at long range by missiles and at short range by guns, and also to incrase the striking potencial of system in repulsing the massive missile attacks and air raids. 3) Use high-precise interactive targeting (pointing) artifitial intellect system with radio-locating MM-wave band channel -RLS and tv-optical target tracking (following) channel - TOS. 4)super-precise TOS allows to point the missle with less 1 meter accuracy at any altitude flying target. Missle has 5 meter blow radius 5)RLS by using millimeter-wave band with acceptable radar dimensions allows to point the missles at any altitude flying target with 2-3 meter accuracy. It achieved by 2 factors- narrow diagram of directivity and diffus-scattering of dispersing from surface in mm-wave band. 6)Cooperative signal processing of RLS and TOS with automatical chose of the optimal mode of operation also provides high jamming and noise protection of Kashtam-M than systems with only RLS or TOS controlling systems 7)using correlating-contrast signal processing of TOS with a memorization of target shape provides reliable target tracking (following) at any target background environment. 8) using 2 high shooting 30mm guns (GSh-6-30-K) with 6 barrels and 5 400 shots per min (phalanx - 4.7k) - 10 800 total, allows in compare to Goalkeeper(GAU-8/A - gun) reduce suppressing target volley duration for 3 times and reduse 1.5 times middle shooting range up to 300-500 meters, which increase the suppressing probability 1.5-2 times 9)operate and entire automatical regime Fighting characteristics: a) 1 Kashtan-M able to suppress 3-4 simultaneously flying missiles, which is enough for middle tonnage ships. for lager ships which may expect high density of air- missile-raids 2 systems may be installed on each side.Same to land objects. b)Kashtan-M surpasses by fighting productivity Crotale Naval for 1.5-2 times, Goalkeeper - 2.5-3 times. Suppressing zone: missiles range - 1.5 - 10 km; altitude 5 meter - 6 km Guns range 0.3 - 5 km altitude 0 - 3 km Reaction time 5-7 sec Ammunition: missiles 8/32 guns 1000 all-time, all-weather regieme weight without ammo 7 500 kilo total 10 000 kilo PS:NATO armies have no even faint resemblance to such effective guns-missiles-infrared jamming-optical&radiolocating radar systems!Thats even NATO experts confirm!

Be-200 MULTIPURPOSE AMPHIBIOUS AIRCRAFT

The basic configuration of the Be-200 amphibious aircraft is indended for fighting the forest fires using the fire extinguishant fluids. While doing this, the aircraft can fulfill the following tasks: stop and restrain the spread of the big forest fires by developing the protecting strip due to multiple drops on the fire edge; extinguishing the small fire and fire which only starts to develop; delivery of fire brigades and fire extingushing equipment to the fire region by landing on preselected water area of aifield, and return to the base. A particular feature of the Be-200 aircraft, when compared with the other amphibians, is that it has fully pressurized fuselage, which allows to fulfill a lot of missions. The aircraft is fitted with flight/navigation and communication equipment allowing the navigation and flight control at all flight phases in adverse weather conditions at any season, day and night. Be-200 will be equipped with the new avionics complex ARIA-200 which meets the requirements of ICAO category III of joint Russian-American production by ARIA JV (Allied Signal Aerospace, USA and NIIAO, Russia). The interior for the Be-200 amphibious aircraft firefighting configuration is developed by AIM Aviation Fliteform. Passenger and combi configurations are on the list as well. While designing the Be-200 amphibious aircraft, the designers took into account the design experience and test results of the biggest jet amphibian A-40 "Albatross" which set 148 records. Apart from the basic - Firefighting version, the following aircraft versions will be manufactured: · Transport; · Passenger (Be-210); · Search & Rescue · Ambulance The aircraft can also be developed in executive version. Be-200 amphibious aircraft designing is based on FAR-25 requirements that will allow to facilitate the certification in compliance with FAA and JAA requirements. On December 27, 2000 the Be-200 amphibious aircraft obtained the tpye noise certificate № СШ 118-Бе-200. Mystery 9/11 aircraft was military 'doomsday plane'

Full Story: http://rawstory.com//news/2007/CNN_investigates_secret_911_doomsday_plane_0913.html Shortly before 10 am on the morning of September 11, 2001, amid rumors of a fourth hijacked plane headed for Washington, DC, a mystery aircraft appeared in restricted airspace over the White House. There has never been an official explanation for this incident, which has provided abundant fuel for 9/11 conspiracy theories. CNN has now learned from two government sources that the mystery plane was a military aircraft and has determined that the blurry image on video appears to match photos of the Air Force's E-4B (discussed here on Wikipedia), a specially modified Boeing 747 with a communications pod behind the cockpit. "The E-4B is a state of the art flying command post," CNN explained, "built and equipped for one reason -- to keep the government running no matter what, even in the event of a nuclear war, the reason it was nicknamed the 'doomsday plane' during the Cold War." 9/11 Commission co-chair Lee Hamilton told CNN he was aware of the incident and that it had simply never seemed important enough to make it into the commission's report. He called conspiracy theories involving government complicity in 9/11 "ludicrous." The plane was previously identified as the E-4B a year ago by one researcher on a forum associated with the 9/11 conspiracy film, Loose Change. CNN acknowledges that, despite its identification, the absence of the aircraft from official investigations, together with the Pentagon's denial that it was a military plane and the insistence by the Pentagon, Secret Service, and FAA that they have no explanation for the incident, may continue to raise suspicions.
