Oh yes. In Rainbows is so much more upbeat.
I was in the car today with my sister, listening to OK Computer, and I hadn't realised how depressing it is until then.

Your apocalypse/love theory fits very well. It's almost parallel to the devil interpretation.

I heard the once as well. He seems to have changed his mind since then. In Rainbows is a much happier album.

Thom himself said it's about staring the devil right in the face knowing that ge'll laugh everytime. He said it is radiohead's saddest song. But you should take it into your own perspective. When i first heard it i thought it was about the apocolypse and the only way to save your self is love.

Staring the devil right in the fucking face, yet knowing that he'll win every time.

Amazing, how you can make such an emotional song, with so little words. In a unconsious moment, the song swept me of my feet and carried me down the darkest tunnels. Ending with a sentence that still gives hope in the darkest times:
Immerse your soul love

-is the most painfully beautiful song ever meant to say
A Wolf at the door?
i think that one sounds bizarrely hopeful somehow
