January 7th, 2009 at 15:49:40 In this case, yes, the US could actually do nothing. But see, the thing is that they would not be able to do anything to a shaft based warheads as well. Unless they have a regular prophets unit which would predict the attack. Otherwise, there is no point for the Russians to use Topol-Ms, because shaft based ICBMs are a lot more powerful. Therefore, you might assume Topol's are for the retaliation strike only, and you would be absolutely right. But as I said, they're quite useless for retaliation

January 7th, 2009 at 16:12:39 That's a point but you're wrong. Imagine 100tiny moving blimps on those maps, now the launching time of a Topol-m missile is just under 10min, there is no way that the US can predict, find, launch missiles and destroy those trucks in 10 min. First hit wins.

And the US have plenty of these. Apparently, this is the reason why they don't really mind Russia producing topol-m's,but were desperately against ICBMs on trains. Because they can see and nuke topol-m's, but they can't nuke every single train in Russia. Simple as that.

The Russian army won the military operation, but the US won the propaganda war. This triggered an economic recession in Russia, which is probably worse than in Europe and the United States.
