Deathmetal is style not a theme so lyrics can include anything. even R&B band could take their theme from vikings (would not be popular tho). So vikingmetal is unoffical name and hints of the theme not and has nothing to do with music style (exept the "Metal.. word).

January 8th, 2009 at 19:43:43 True that there is no "metal named viking" but the name basically comes from the influence of the viking on this band. Finntroll are considered as folk/troll metal for exemple. Alestorms was influenced by pirates, thus creating Pirate Metal (which shouldn't exist either). Anyway, I prefer those name more than melodic death metal...doesn't sound right in my ears...sounds like the type of music I'd listen to if I had a razor in my hand.
