January 5th, 2009 at 21:43:49 Hall of fame all in one room. Just a classic performance. Seems like the other post of the same video (misdated 1944) has slightly better sound/picture quality. And yes, badmouthing Billie Holiday 50 years after she has left us with such wonderful musical gifts is about as lowclass a pursuit as I can imagine...
January 5th, 2009 at 22:06:48 Show some respect for Billie!.
January 5th, 2009 at 22:29:47 only hurt she had was the hurt she brought on her stupid self with her stupid choices.
January 5th, 2009 at 22:52:46 sad sacks of shit. you cant hurt her any more than the assholes in her did. She's in a better place with God leader her way. haha.
January 5th, 2009 at 23:15:45 you are som sad shit.
January 5th, 2009 at 23:38:44 Wow, such negative comments on here! I'm shocked! Ms. Holiday was living in terrible circumstances, it's true, but I think that has more to do with the times she was living in, her sex, and the color of her skin. Despite all of the disadvantages, she still had talent and class that shone through it all, and that's why she is a legend.
January 6th, 2009 at 00:01:43 Thank you! :)
January 6th, 2009 at 00:24:42 Gerry Mulligan
January 6th, 2009 at 00:47:41 who's the white guy on sax
January 6th, 2009 at 01:10:40 the best.......jazz or blues hannes
January 6th, 2009 at 01:33:39 Per a Columbia News article April 2005: "Holiday's behind-the-beat timing and command of her instrument inspired some of this century's greatest musicians, from vocalists Frank Sinatra and Abbey Lincoln to clarinetist Benny Goodman and saxophonist Lester Young, who gave Holiday the nickname "Lady Day." These members of jazz royalty all count Holiday as an influence."
January 6th, 2009 at 01:56:38 Wow being a youngster growing up listening To this beautiful music I never thought I would See such foul language being used to make a Point. Could you please tone it down as I find It very disrespectful to Billie Holiday and Everyone else who just wants to listen to the Music.
January 6th, 2009 at 02:19:37 i don't recall billie ho-aday receiving the kennedy center award for her contribution to american culture and being named a national treasure, like diana ross did, just this yr in fact. guess it was about more than sleeping with the boss that got her this illustrious recognition. you pig.
January 6th, 2009 at 02:42:36 Lady? haaaaaa haaaaaaaa this woman was a known whore for yrs working as a prostitue, never heard of a holiday hater? because people fell in love with her after diana's portrait of her, too bad diana overshadowed her & that's what you hate. "uppity, dark" those is racist words boss and that's why you don't like Ross cause she's dominated your disgusting racists world with her success..you racist pig.
January 6th, 2009 at 03:05:35 Yeah, she got where she was for being a slut who sleeps with the boss. "Spread ya legs for me, darling, and I will make you a star"
January 6th, 2009 at 03:28:34 Damn, your ass is still here! It's obvious you are infatuated with Lady Day. So who is the punk ass loser--going on a thread of someone you don't like and bashing them for days. You are a dickless loser. Why are you on her board? I've never heard of a Billie Holliday hater, everyone respects and admires her, but so many people hate Diana Ross. And btw, I stand by my assessment of Diana Ross--crazy, non-singing. selfish, uppity dark whore who got lucky. :)
January 6th, 2009 at 03:51:33 Beautiful! It's disheartening that she had such a rough start in life.. probably helped lead to her sad demise. Some folks come out of a hard childhood and thrive - some don't. Emotionally, we do the best we can with what we have. We'll never know all the difficult choices and personal turmoils that people battle or are trying to RUN AWAY from. My heart goes out to the world because Billie wasn't the first and won't be the last to live such a life.
January 6th, 2009 at 04:14:32 that's rich calling diana a whore in defense of a known prostitute drug addict billie holiday, at least Ross has over 300 million in her bank account and is still working, holiday on the other hand died a broke busted and disgusted ho go figure, you loser.
January 6th, 2009 at 04:37:31 You yawn, but your pathetic ass is lingers on here. Obviously you are a miserable dickless troll else you wouldn't spend your endless time on this thread making idiotic comments. Get it together.
January 6th, 2009 at 05:00:30 Diana Ross is nothing but a whore who got lucky for sleeping with the boss. Flo was the true talent of the group. Now get your dumb fucking ass out of here since you have been dwelling on it for so long--you must love Billie.
January 6th, 2009 at 05:23:29 It's "Little Jazz", Roy Eldridge.
January 6th, 2009 at 05:46:28 Who's playing the fantastic trumpet solo?
January 6th, 2009 at 06:09:27 man, she's great but don't make such stupid statements. she's had no influence on any classical vocalist i've read about, nor any male and few female blues vocalists. just enjoy her amazing voice and don't feel the need to make such unfounded comments.
January 6th, 2009 at 06:32:26 Don't care what others say, I always liked her voice...
January 6th, 2009 at 06:55:25 This is the thing.
